About This Event

California law (Health and Safety Code Section 11165.1) requires all California licensed prescribers and pharmacists to register for the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) 2.0 by July 1, 2016, or upon receiving a DEA license. (CURES is California’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.)

This webinar covers the basics of CURES 2.0 with a special focus on the needs of a busy clinician. The panelists cover how to register, how to use the new alerts and other features, and what to do when you get information that surprises you. Discovering that your patient is using multiple prescribers is only the first step: You need to investigate what happened (sometimes it is legitimate). You need to know how to diagnose addiction, and when present, how to direct patients to treatment.

Hear from:

  • Roneet Lev, MD, emergency room physician and president, Independent Emergency Physicians Consortium
  • Jessicca Moore, FNP, Petaluma Health Center
  • Mike Small, director, CURES
