Collection of Personal Information for CHCF’s Email Lists
When signing up for updates from the CHCF, you are asked to provide basic information, including name, email, state, zip code, and industry type. This information is gathered in a secure, encrypted form. Providing the name of your organization and job title are optional. This information is collected so we can send out announcements about new CHCF publications and projects to you via email, as well as targeted information related to your self-selected topics of interest.
Zip code and state information is used to provide information that may be most relevant to a contact based on where they reside. This may include events that are happening in a specific city, and data and policy information relating to a specific region.
You may elect to provide a job title, organization name, industry type, and interest areas to help us target additional information that may be of interest. By providing this information to CHCF, you agree to receive updates from the foundation.
The email addresses of our subscribers, as well as their name, email, phone, address, organization name, and job title, are stored indefinitely on the servers of Salesforce, a customer relationship management (CRM) platform. Please review Salesforce’s Privacy Policy for more on how they secure information.
Subscriber email addresses and names are also used by Campaign Monitor, on our behalf, to distribute our emails and newsletters. You can read more about Campaign Monitor’s Privacy Policy. We track the performance of our emails using metrics provided by Campaign Monitor to record email opens and interactions (such as link clicks and unsubscribe rates). We do not share email metrics with anyone outside of CHCF or its authorized agents, which include Salesforce and Campaign Monitor.
Security of Information
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the data submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive them. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we store these data in a secure and encrypted environment, we cannot guarantee their absolute security.
Updating Personal Information
Contacts can update their personal information or stop receiving emails from CHCF in the following ways:
- Visit our website and click the “Sign Up” button at top of the page. By entering the same email address used when you initially signed up, you are able to change your associated name, zip code, and subscription preferences.
- A similar “Update email preferences” link is included with all email blasts (your email address is prepopulated).
- An “Unsubscribe” link is included in all email blasts. This link allows you to opt out of receiving any future emails from CHCF.
Use of Cookies
“Cookies” are small text files that websites can store on users’ computers to recognize repeat visitors. The computer of each visitor to a CHCF website receives a cookie unless the user blocks the cookie. No personal information is contained in the cookie. CHCF uses cookies to track web visitors to record site activity using Google Analytics and to capture web activity and user behavior back to CRM subscribers. We use these data to help us better understand what information our audiences find valuable.
Third-Party Sites
We will not sell your personal information or share it with any third party. CHCF does not contract with any advertising or marketing agencies to gather individual or group profile data on our visitors based on personal profiles. CHCF does not target for-profit advertising to visitors.
CHCF may use the services of other websites not operated or controlled by us (“third-party sites”). The CHCF Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party sites, which have their own privacy policies that should be consulted when engaging their services. Examples of third-party sites used by CHCF include Eventbrite and Zoom.
Unregistered Visitors to CHCF.org
If you are not subscribed to the CHCF mailing list, we do not collect any personally identifiable information about you. We do log users’ IP addresses (the internet address of a computer) to understand which pages of our websites users visit, how long visitors spend there, which files are downloaded, and the type of technology visitors use. We use these data to determine which parts of the sites are of most interest to our audiences and to help ensure our website works well with a wide variety of hardware and software.
