    The CHW/P Capacity-Building Collaborative hosts statewide seminars that are free and open to anyone interested in supporting and developing the CHW/P workforce. Anyone interested can access materials from past seminars or attend any remaining seminars.

    Materials from past statewide seminars are available at the links below.

    • Statewide Seminar 1: Public Tools and Resources to Define Community Health Worker Demand. This seminar covered where to find and how to use resources related to employment projections, job openings, and wages. It also explored how to use Healthy Places Index 3.0 to define local demand for social needs services. Access the materials from this seminar in English and Spanish.
    • Statewide Seminar 2: Financing Options to Support the Work of CHW/Ps. This seminar provided an overview of Medi-Cal and other options for financing CHW/P services. Access the materials from this seminar in English and Spanish.
    • Statewide Seminar 3: The Basics of Revenue Cycle, Medical Billing, Contracting, and Social Care Network Models. This seminar provided information on the revenue cycle and contracting topics for nonclinical community health providers. It also explored the unique benefits of network models that allow a group of providers to pursue contracts with managed care organizations and to share capacity for claims processing, case management, social needs referrals, and more. Access the materials from this seminar in English and Spanish.
    • Statewide Seminar 4: Charting the Path Ahead and Establishing Community Health Worker Collaborative Mission, Values, and Voice. This seminar provided technical assistance in several areas crucial to the long-term growth, operational efficiency, and sustained financial stability of programs. Access the materials from this seminar in English and Spanish.
    • Statewide Seminar 5: California State CHW/P/R Workforce Advancement.This seminar provides information on California’s finalized CHW/P/R Certificate Model, including requirements for certificate pathways and requirements for certificate training programs. This seminar includes a guided conversation with representatives from the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) and the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), and a presentation by DHCS on the CHW services benefit. Access the materials from this seminar in English and Spanish. Please note, since this seminar took place, there has been an announcement from California Health and Human Services that the planned certification has been put on pause in order to allow for some more stakeholder feedback.
    • Statewide Seminar 6: CHW/P Hiring Resources with Regional Spotlight and Interactive 16 Personalities Workshop. This seminar provides information on using the 16 Personalities Assessment, including what drives, inspires, and challenges different personality types, and how to apply the Assessment in hiring and team management. Access the materials from this seminar in English and Spanish.
