About This Event

Despite significant evidence that a diverse, representative health care workforce is pivotal to improving health care access and outcomes, limited progress has been made to increase the number of Black and Latino/x doctors and nurses and to retain them in the workforce.

On June 21, experts from the Urban Institute and the medical and nursing fields interrogated the disproportionately low number of Black and Latino/x physicians and nurses and discussed strategies, policies, and practices that can help address this issue. This webinar offered a high-level summary of new research on pathway programs that aim to diversify the health care workforce and a discussion on the types of supports needed for students and professionals, as well as broader cultural shifts necessary within institutions and systems.
