Erika Ferguson Walsh serves as the director of the Office of Healthy Opportunities for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. In this role, she leads the department’s comprehensive strategy to effectively deliver health, not just health care, by addressing the medical and nonmedical drivers of health including housing, food, transportation, and interpersonal safety. Erika has served in a variety of capacities across health, human services, and community-based services, including positions at Duke University, the World Health Organization, and managing a homeless service organization.

Erika holds a bachelor of science in public health from the University of North Carolina and Duke University, and a master of public policy from Harvard University.
