About This Event

The California Health Care Foundation and the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California hosted a panel-style conversation with two physician leaders to discuss how the needs of seriously ill Californians are changing in the context of COVID-19, especially for those communities that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

Objectives

  • Examined how the disparate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color, people with low incomes, and other socially vulnerable communities may affect therapeutic relationships and care delivery
  • Described approaches to supporting people with serious illness whose communities are disproportionately affected by COVID-19
  • Identified new opportunities to enhance specialty palliative care services and advance patient care despite the limitations of the COVID era
