Policy Updates Impacting Maternity Care in California: CalAIM and 2022-2023 Budget

About This Event

Collectively, Medicaid programs are the largest insurer of births in the US, covering 42% of the country’s births. Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid program, pays for more than half of births in the state. With new budget initiatives, a California Momnibus Act, and a Medicaid transformation initiative called CalAIM, the state is seeking to improve maternity care and birth outcomes with a focus on promoting whole-person care.

During the Center for Health Care Strategies’ July 27 webinar, experts provided an overview of California’s new initiatives to transform maternity care throughout the state. The webinar, made possible by CHCF, also highlighted California’s efforts to expand and protect access to reproductive health care.

The presentation slides are available for download on the Center for Health Care Strategies website.
