CIN Partner Meeting — Strengthening Foundations

About This Event

The California Improvement Network (CIN) is a learning and action community that advances equitable health care experiences and outcomes for Californians through cross-sector connections, spreading good ideas, and implementing improvements. This CIN partner meeting aimed to establish network connections and build relationships among partners to support these goals. See the list of CIN partner organizations.

The specific theme for this meeting was “strengthening foundations” and the related meeting objectives were to:

  • Build connections among CIN partners
  • Gain insights into effective cross-sector relationships to advance equitable health care
  • Begin to co-design the CIN health equity pledge

The keynote address was delivered by Stella Safo, MD, MPH, founder of Just Equity for Health and HIV, and a primary care physician at Mount Sinai Health System. Dr. Safo shared her journey as a physician working with patients with HIV and ways in which community partnerships supported better outcomes for her patients. She discussed the importance of building relationships and trust in the community to build cross-sector relationships to advance health equity. She also shared important lessons learned for health care organizations (HCO) and community-based organizations (CBO) working together.

CIN is a project of the California Health Care Foundation and is managed by Healthforce Center at the University of California, San Francisco.
