Webinar — Learning About California’s Community Health Worker State Plan Amendment

About This Event

Join the California Health Care Foundation on Wednesday, December 1 from 10 AM to noon (PT) for a webinar titled “Learning About California’s Community Health Worker (CHW) State Plan Amendment (SPA).” The webinar will include a presentation and panel discussion on California’s efforts to cover community health worker and promotor de salud (CHW/P) services through an upcoming Medi-Cal State Plan Amendment.

Participants will hear from health care experts around the country about the opportunities presented by California’s proposed CHW SPA, the core elements of an SPA, approaches to CHW SPAs in other states, and some key considerations for California.

The webinar will also include a panel discussion representing diverse perspectives on the role of CHW/Ps as both lay health care workers and community advocates, the need for sustainable funding for the CHW/P workforce, and the critical function of CHW/Ps in advancing health equity and improving health outcomes.

If you are new to SPAs, you will gain an understanding of the process and learn how stakeholders can help the California Department of Health Care Services craft an SPA to support the CHW workforce.
