About This Event

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed tremendous strain on California’s community health centers, a vital part of the health care safety net. It has also presented some unique opportunities, such as the expansion and mainstreaming of telephonic and virtual care. What do community health centers need during this time to best take care of their patients? What lessons can we take from this crisis to help strengthen the safety net and to care for patients even after the pandemic?

Hear from three community health center leaders who will discuss challenges and opportunities for their organizations and patients.

Speakers include:

  • Oliver Brooks, MD, chief medical officer of Watts Healthcare and president of the National Medical Association
  • Maria Carriedo-Ceniceros, MD, vice president and chief medical officer, San Ysidro Health
  • Samali Lubega, MD, associate medical director, LifeLong Medical Care

Sandra R. Hernández, MD, president and CEO of CHCF, provided opening remarks, and Carlina Hansen, MS, senior program officer for CHCF, moderated. The webinar included a Q&A session between speakers and attendees.
