CIN LogoThis California Improvement Network webinar series, Compassionate Leadership in Times of Crisis, combines sources of inspiration with pragmatic resources and tools customized to support health care professionals in staying resilient. This content is based on the resilient leadership framework of Leah Weiss, PhD, MSW, with a deep dive on purpose, self-compassion, compassion, and mindfulness.

Webinar 1: Anchoring in Your Purpose

By the end of this session participants will:

  • Understand the scientific underpinnings of purpose and why it matters for maintaining resilience
  • Gain insights into how purpose-driven industries can often be a double-edged sword for performance, well-being, and sustainability
  • Develop tools for homing in on their sense of purpose and create ways to memorialize it as a mechanism for support of bolstering resilience

 

Webinar 2: Gifting Yourself Self-Compassion

By the end of this session participants will:

  • Understand the scientific underpinnings of self-compassion and its link to compassion
  • Understand the importance of self-compassion in protecting from burnout
  • Feel permission to extend self-compassion to themselves

 

Webinar 3: Extending Compassion

By the end of this session participants will:

  • Clarify the difference between compassion and empathy
  • Understand the neuroscience research behind compassion’s impact
  • Understand the dangers of compassion fatigue in health care
  • Create mental models for how to start practicing compassion in a small action

 

Webinar 4: Applying Mindfulness

By the end of this session, participants will:

  • Understand the many applications of mindfulness in health care settings
  • Build a sense of what kinds of mindfulness would work for them in this moment
