Listening to Black Californians
As part of its commitment to ending health inequities, CHCF partnered with EVITARUS, a Black-owned public opinion research firm in Los Angeles, to conduct a qualitative and quantitative study that listens to Black Californians via in-depth interviews, focus groups, and a statewide survey.
Topics

Behavioral Health
Our work in behavioral health addresses the fragmentation and inequities in California’s mental health and substance use disorder systems. We support delivery system improvements and policy reforms that enhance access to effective behavioral health care.
Data Exchange
Our work on data exchange advances California’s health information infrastructure. We analyze interoperability barriers, governance models, and equity considerations, supporting implementation of policies and technologies that enable secure sharing of patient information across providers.

Health Equity
Our work in health equity addresses systemic barriers that create unequal health outcomes. We invest in programs, research, and policies that reduce disparities based on race, income, geography, and language, ensuring California’s health system delivers fair, culturally responsive care for all communities.

Homelessness
Our work in homelessness addresses the intersection of housing instability and health. We support innovative models that integrate housing and health services, strengthen care coordination, and advocate for policies that prevent homelessness, recognizing stable housing as essential for health among California’s most vulnerable populations.
