In order to meet the growing demand for opioid addiction treatment, primary care clinics are stepping up to integrate medications for addiction treatment (MAT) into their core services.
In 2016, the Center for Care Innovations, in partnership with the California Health Care Foundation, launched the Treating Addiction in the Primary Care Safety Net program, providing tailored technical assistance on addiction treatment and change management topics to 25 community health centers in California.
Based on the success of the program, which was completed in 2018, and learning from a robust evaluation, Center for Care Innovations is now funded by the California Department of Health Care Services’ MAT Expansion Program to provide technical assistance and training to 40 community health centers and 10 behavioral health organizations.
