Focus on CalAIM

Workforce

CalAIM’s success hinges on recruiting, training, and retaining a community-connected workforce to deliver Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports.

    • Data Exchange

CalAIM builds on the experiences and successes of Medi-Cal’s Whole Person Care pilots and Health Homes initiative. Both programs demonstrated the importance of the community-connected workforce, including peer support specialists and community health workers and promotores de salud. These critical members of the care team fulfill a unique role in CalAIM by providing culturally congruent, person-centered support and bridging different health and social services systems. CalAIM strengthens the imperative for managed care plans to support the growth and development of this workforce and to deepen their partnerships with the community-based organizations that often employ them.
