In 2022, California health insurers covered 35.9 million enrollees. Of those, 14.1 million were commercial enrollees, 16.1 million were public managed care enrollees, and 5.8 million were enrolled through administrative services only arrangements for self-insured employers. Commercial enrollment consists of small group, large group, and individual enrollment.
