Medi-Cal Eligibility and Enrollment

Our research on Medi-Cal eligibility and enrollment examines barriers to coverage for California’s most vulnerable residents. We analyze application processes, renewal challenges, and outreach effectiveness, identifying policy and system improvements to ensure eligible Californians can access and maintain the health coverage they need.

    For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, California resumed its normal processes to redetermine eligibility for Medi-Cal enrollees in April 2023.
