This webinar supported hospitals in implementing opioid agonist therapy (OAT) in the inpatient setting. It reviewed steps to implementation, including increasing the number of providers with “X” waivers and communicating effectively with hospital administration. This was an interactive webinar inviting participant questions and comments. The panel also discussed regulations of methadone and buprenorphine as well as insurance coverage for these medications.
About SHOUT
Support for Hospital Opioid Use Treatment (Project SHOUT) provides clinical leaders with the tools they need to start and maintain patients on buprenorphine or methadone during hospitalizations for any condition, be it medical, surgical, or obstetric. Specialists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) will provide a suite of supports: coaching, toolkits, protocols, monographs for pharmacy and therapeutics committees, webinars, and onsite presentations.
