Opioid addiction and opioid-related death rates are climbing, and our medical system is on the front lines. Effective medications can save lives, but not enough patients have access to them. While thousands of patients with opioid use disorder are hospitalized in California each year, they are rarely started on lifesaving treatment for their addiction. In this webinar, we examined the efficacy of medications for opioid use disorder, evidence for prescribing these medications in hospital settings, and strategies for implementing prescription programs in your hospital.
About SHOUT
Support for Hospital Opioid Use Treatment (Project SHOUT) provides clinical leaders with the tools they need to start and maintain patients on buprenorphine or methadone during hospitalizations for any condition, be it medical, surgical, or obstetric. Specialists from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) will provide a suite of supports: coaching, toolkits, protocols, monographs for pharmacy and therapeutics committees, webinars, and onsite presentations.
