This fact sheet presents preliminary information about the Medicare drug benefit options available to Californians in 2006. Part of a series of publications exploring the potential impact of this benefit, it provides an overview of the available drug plans, including the cost of monthly premiums; which of the 100 most commonly used drugs are available; and the percentage of plans offering coverage in the “doughnut hole” coverage gap. The plans will offer beneficiaries a range of options and choices for coverage.
Information about benefit design, cost-sharing requirements, each plan’s appeals process, and the list of counties in which plans will operate, is needed to develop a complete picture of the options available throughout the state.
