CHCF Elects New Member to Board of Directors
Augustinos brings strong commitment to using technology to improve health care
The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) today announced the election of Nicholas Augustinos to its board of directors. He will join the board of the Oakland-based health care philanthropy in March of 2015.
Augustinos is the senior vice president of health information services and strategy at Cardinal Health, a multinational health care industry product and services provider, where he is responsible for developing the company’s strategy in health care information services and analytics.
“Nick brings to our board a deep understanding of the role that health information technology plays in a health care system that is ultimately more efficient and accessible to all Californians,” said CHCF Board Chair Micheline Chau. “He will play an invaluable role in helping CHCF focus its resources on innovative approaches to delivering high-quality health care.”
“Since its inception, CHCF has been delivering on its mission to improve the health of all Californians. I look forward to playing a role with an organization that does so much good and is at the forefront of innovation for health care,” said Augustinos.
Prior to Cardinal Health, Augustinos was the senior director for global health care operations at Cisco Systems, where he led the company’s market strategy for health care by bringing his business and technical expertise and thought leadership in the areas of connected health, wellness, and care delivery to the public sector. He also served as the company’s senior director for global health care solutions in the strategic consulting business unit of Cisco, where he led the development of HealthPresence™, Cisco’s care-at-a-distance platform. Augustinos also serves on the board of DexCom, Inc., a continuous glucose monitor medical device manufacturer and on the board of Aver Informatics, a company offering information services for value-based reimbursement in health care.
“We look forward to having Nick join our board,” said CHCF’s President and CEO Dr. Sandra Hernández. “His deep experience in health care tools and technologies, together with his commitment to improving consumer engagement, will make him a great asset to the mission of CHCF.”
Augustinos holds an industrial engineering degree from Athens, Greece; a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from King’s College, University of London; and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
