Karen Santos is a first generation Peruvian-American commercial portrait photographer based in Oakland, CA. Curiosity about an individual’s human experience and inner landscape drew her to portrait photography.

Santos’s background is in performing arts, and art history fuels her process. Her clientele includes Broadway performers and emerging TV/film stars, creative professionals, artists, publications, organizations, and social and executive leaders.

Santos’s passion is to elevate marginalized communities through positive inclusive representation. She exclusively hires creative professionals who are women, queer, and/or people of color, who are critically underrepresented in the media industry. She is a member of Authority Collective and Diversify Photo. She also co-founded a creative nonprofit called By And For, which consists of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) creative photographers committed to social justice activism and community building.
