Christine Castano, MD, is a VP medical director for the California market of Optum (formerly HealthCare Partners) where she leads teams accountable for quality, utilization management, patient experience, and behavioral health. Previously, Castano, who is board certified in internal medicine, had practiced as a primary care physician in the New York metropolitan area, Seattle, and for Optum in the Los Angeles area beginning in 2001. She is a managing partner of the California Improvement Network.

She graduated from Swarthmore College and Albany Medical College, underwent residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and completed the CHCF Health Care Leadership Program.
