Medical Privacy and Confidentiality Survey

This is the first-ever independent national survey of consumer attitudes about the confidentiality of their medical records. Findings show that Americans trust their doctors and hospitals with confidential medical information, but they fear disclosure when it is handled and stored by private health insurance plans, drug companies, and government health programs.

These findings are among the highlights of a survey of 1,000 Americans and another 1,100 California residents conducted by Princeton Survey Research Associates. Both a survey summary and topline report are available under Document Downloads below.
