In California, 63% of people get their coverage through employer-based insurance or individual market plans. California ranks 44th in the nation for its percentage of citizens who are covered by employer-based insurance. Another 20% of Californians get coverage through public plans, such as Medi-Cal or Medicare, while 21% are uninsured.
