In November 2008, the latest report from the California Physician Performance Initiative (CPPI) was presented in Sacramento. This multi-stakeholder initiative examined 15 evidence-based quality measures, investigating how California physicians stack up against benchmarks and whether care provided to Medicare beneficiaries varies versus other payers.
The work is being conducted by the California Cooperative Healthcare Reporting Initiative (CCHRI) under the auspices of the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH). During the Sacramento briefing, CCHRI presented findings from the project's first phase, and then David Lansky, PhD, CEO and president of the Pacific Business Group on Health, addressed the key issues that arose during data collection. Armand Feliciano, director of Medi-Cal and regulatory policy at the California Medical Association, responded to the survey.
