A database and various reports about California's medical groups and independent physician associations (IPAs) are available to health leaders, researchers, and policymakers through the Cattaneo and Stroud website.

Cattaneo and Stroud are the only providers of such up-to-date information. The data are used by multiple stakeholders, including the medical groups themselves, the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH), associations, researchers, the California Department of Managed Health Care, and others.

The reports include enrollment levels, organizational type and business lines, numbers of affiliated physicians, clinic locations, hospital affiliations, key contact information, and much more.

The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) has supported the maintenance of the database for several years, while the number of visitors to the site has continued to increase. In the first three quarters of 2008, there were 22,453 visitors to the reports page and another 17,339 inquiries to find a medical group. These resources are now published as part of CHCF's California Health Care Almanac.
