CHCF supports Rock Health, the first seed accelerator exclusively for health startups, providing capital, mentorship, operational support, and office space in San Francisco.
Rock Health is a nonprofit seed accelerator program that challenges developers and entrepreneurs to address issues in health and wellness through web and mobile technologies.
Most patient care and wellness programs do not currently exhibit the technological creativity found in social networking, crowd sourcing, games, and other verticals. Rock Health reduces the gap between these ecosystems by linking developers and entrepreneurs with the most innovative minds in health and technology.
In its first term, 11 startups were selected to participate in a five-month incubator program that aims to catalyze health app innovation, turning ideas into products and businesses. Addressing needs in both the consumer and professional markets, the selected startups receive a $20,000 grant, in addition to free office space and access to Rock Health's medical experts and partners.
Some entrepreneurs view the health care market as a minefield of privacy rules, federal regulation, and fragmented data; therefore, we are excited to see resources like Rock Health that encourage enterprising people to take the plunge into health care.
