In 2010, CHCF partnered the Biodesign program with a group of seasoned health care professionals who graduated from the CHCF Health Care Leadership Program to target observations in safety-net settings in California. The tailored Biodesign program provided the participants with a new skill set around innovation they could apply to their own health care organizations. It also helped to create new relationships to encourage innovations in medical device, technology, and health care services to lower the cost of care across a diverse range of California health care settings.
CHCF invested in this partnership to broaden the focus of biomedical innovation to solutions with a focus on lowering the cost of care with an emphasis on serving underserved populations. It also inspires and educates health care leaders with new skills in innovation to apply within their organizations.
