In operation since 2005, the Health Workforce Tracking Collaborative is designed to identify pressing health workforce and health professions' issues in California. Funded by the California HealthCare Foundation, The California Wellness Foundation, and The California Endowment, the project is managed by the Center for the Health Professions at the University of California, San Francisco.

The project's areas of interest include language access, community clinic staffing, and oral health workforce shortages. Some examples of reports issued by the project include:
