California HealthCare Foundation Names Two New Senior Program Officers
November 21, 2005
The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) has announced two key appointments to its program management staff. Kate O'Malley has been named senior program officer of the Hospitals and Nursing Homes program and Jonah Frohlich joins the organization as senior program officer for Health Information Technology.
Kate O'Malley, R.N., M.S.
As senior program officer, O'Malley, a registered nurse, will promote the development of programs that improve patient care in nursing homes and other settings providing health care to older Californians. Prior to joining the foundation, she was a senior project manager for the nursing home team with Lumetra, a nonprofit quality improvement organization in San Francisco.
Previously, O'Malley worked as inter-regional director of cancer control for the American Cancer Society in Oakland, promoting cancer early detection and risk reduction programs in Northern California. She also worked for 20 years at the On Lok program in San Francisco in both clinical and management positions.
O'Malley received a degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island and a master's degree in health education from San Francisco State University. She also received certification as a geriatric nurse practitioner from the University of California, San Francisco.
Jonah Frohlich, M.P.H.
As senior program officer, Frohlich will explore ways to better use technology in CHCF's four program areas: health insurance, chronic disease care, public financing and policy, and hospitals and nursing homes. Frohlich previously worked as a consultant for the Foundation.
Frohlich has also worked as the manager of reporting and analysis for Brown and Toland Medical Group in San Francisco and as the director of product management for WebOS, Inc. in Baltimore.
Frohlich has a degree in economics from McGill University in Montreal, and a master's degree in public health from the University of California, Berkeley.
