This report, taken from numerous public and private data sources, provides a visual analysis of costs and financing trends over the past decade, as well as some predictions of future costs.
This set of charts, based primarily on National Health Expenditures data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, shows how spending is distributed by type of service and the present rates of increase for rapidly rising cost components such as hospital services and prescription drugs. In addition, the charts describe expenditure sources (for example, public versus private funds) and provide information regarding health insurance premium increases. Data sources are documented and a bibliography is included.
