What: The California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) today announced the release of an updated comparative guide designed to help seniors sort through the various prescription drug discount programs available in California.

The guide provides side-by-side comparisons of ten discount programs including discount cards, online pharmacy options, and California's state-mandated program. Key questions are answered including:
  • How do seniors qualify for the programs?
  • How much does it cost to join the programs?
  • Which major retailers accept the programs?
  • Do the programs include mail order and online options?
  • Which prescriptions are generally included in the program?
  • What savings are available through the program?
  • How much will prescriptions cost? (Chart includes a comparison of prescription costs for twelve commonly prescribed drugs.)

Who: The California HealthCare Foundation, based in Oakland, is an independent philanthropy committed to improving California's health care delivery and financing systems.
