This one-day workshop allows participants time with their teams to develop the aims, measures, and data collection plan for their QI projects. The workshop outline is:

• Understand the Model for Improvement and its application to quality improvement.
• Apply the Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycle and recognize how it supports the Model for Improvement.
• What do we want to accomplish? Overview of developing aim statements.
• How do we know that a change is an improvement? Overview of measures development and making a data collection plan.
• Using data for quality improvement: Understand the value of using time series data for quality improvement and construct a run chart.
• What changes can we make that will result in improvement? Generating ideas and turning ideas into PDSAs.
