Melissa Lucas is marketing and communications manager at Healthforce Center at UCSF for the California Improvement Network, which is a project of the California Health Care Foundation.

Lucas has extensive experience in communications strategy, editorial, technology, outreach, and grant writing in the fields of health care policy, social services, internet access, and tech for good. Melissa formerly served as senior web editor at the California Health Care Foundation, where she oversaw publishing operations, managed social media, produced visual and interactive content, and analyzed performance metrics.

Lucas earned a bachelor’s degree in community studies with a minor in language studies (Spanish and German) from the University of California, Santa Cruz. During that time, she interned at a family planning clinic in Costa Rica.
